Fur Fun Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, foster-based dog rescue serving Eastern Iowa. Founded in September 2014, our mission is simple: to connect dogs in need with loving foster families and carefully chosen adopters who are ready to welcome the perfect new companion.
Fur Fun Rescue is powered by compassionate volunteers and foster homes who open their hearts and homes to dogs waiting for a second chance. At any given time, we care for 40 to 60 dogs, providing them with safety, stability, and the support they need to thrive.
Most of our dogs come from overcrowded shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia. We also assist with owner surrenders when families can no longer keep their pets, and we take in local stray dogs in need of help.
Every dog in our care receives comprehensive veterinary attention, including rabies and parvo/distemper vaccinations, microchipping, heartworm testing, and spay or neuter surgery. We also address any additional medical needs to ensure each dog is healthy and ready for the next chapter.
Our dedicated foster families help dogs adjust to life in a home, working on basic manners, socialization, and obedience. When a dog is ready for adoption, we carefully match them with screened adopters to ensure they find a safe, lifelong home, never to be homeless again.
Fur Fun Rescue is supported entirely through private donations and adoption fees. We do not receive government funding, and we are deeply grateful to our donors and supporters who make our lifesaving work possible. With your help, we can continue giving more dogs the future they deserve.
